Our story
From Istanbul
to Näsilinnankatu
Galata Kebab House has been serving Tampere since 1985. We are the first Turkish kebab restaurant in Tampere and one of the pioneers of the city's kebab culture – serving our guests for more than 40 years.
We opened in December 1985 under the name Istanbul, on the street behind the Anttila department store, and later moved to our current home on Näsilinnankatu. The name changed first to Bospori and finally to Galata. Today the restaurant is run by the second generation, with the third helping out during school holidays.
The kebab meat is marinated in house and cooked on the upright döner — never reheated, but carved by knife as each order comes in.

Döner
Carved to order
The döner turns in front of the grill all day. The meat is carved by knife only once your order comes in, so every portion leaves the kitchen hot instead of sitting under a heat lamp.
